Big update! New character, new map!


Hello,

My name is Levi Gideon and I just released a big update to Mizu, including a new character, a new level, and a whole new look and feel! Download today for endless fun!

I’m a bit late on this post so I’ll include a log of what’s improved since we introduced the new level!

1.1 - Oct 31, 21

  • Replaced the default character with a fun new character named Marty.
  • Introduced a big new main level, featuring a downhill area and some city blocks to explore.
  • Improved gamepad and keyboard support!

1.2 - Nov 7, 2021

  • Improved sliding mechanics so that speed changes proportionally when going up or down a rail or ledge
  • Improved the stability of downhill rolling mechanics
  • Added a general loading screen to the game
  • Fixed an issue where tree colors were not showing up on some devices
  • Fixed an issue with falling through the floor after sliding

Mizu was lacking in the stylistic department, so we (brothers Levi and Zach Gideon) put our heads down about a month ago to really think over what we wanted the game to look and feel like, I’m going to share a little of what we’ve been up to in that month.

Marty

Having a realistic human form is fun and all (and all sorts of awkward), but after a lot of thought and experimentation Zach came up with a new character we’ve name Marty. You’re the new kid in town, and your goal is to find everything there is to skate. Maybe you’ll even find inspiration for the next time you go skate in real life.

Things picked up one day when Zach sent me some sketches. I got to work creating a version in 3d and did some tests to make sure it felt right. The character felt great and the shorter stature gave us a lot of freedom to make more aesthetically pleasing animations so we ran with it.

And of course the new level is coming along nicely.
